Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) eliminates the need to run 110/220 VAC power to Wireless Access Points and other devices on a wired LAN.
With Power-over-Ethernet, system installers run only a single CAT5 Ethernet cable that carries both power and data to each device. This allows greater flexibility in the locating of access points and network devices and decreases installation costs.
Power-over-Ethernet begins with a CAT5 "Injector" or PoE enabled hub or switch. These devices insert a DC Voltage onto the CAT5 cable. The Injector is typically installed in the "wiring closet" near the Ethernet switch or hub.
The Digital Acoustics ii3 IP Intercoms support the IEEE 802.3af standard for PoE.
The following products have an optional configuration to support PoE:
- ii3-EDW
- ii3-EW2W
- ii3-M
- ii3-MST
